Employee link provides focus for fund raising

The world of finance and family have added to funds in support of Aberdeen Maternity Hospital’s Special Nursery in a big thank you for the care given to baby, Joseph Doohan.

The first child of Aberdeen couple, Nicola Ritchie and her partner, Shaun Doohan, Joseph was born 13 weeks early in June, weighing just 2lbs 3ozs. He spent the next eight-and-a-half weeks in the Nursery’s intensive care, high dependency and finally special care units, before being allowed home in late August, a month earlier than originally expected.

"Joseph is now a thriving 8 lbs 4 ozs and doing really well, thanks to the great care-and-attention he was given in the Nursery," says Nicola. "Right from the start, we said we wanted to give something back, although no amount of fund-raising can reflect how grateful we are to all the staff."

Nicola is Office Manager with Kudos Financial Services in Aberdeen and the company decided that fundraising from a staff and clients Beatles Night, held at the Forum recently, should be donated to this very worthwhile cause

Her mum and dad, Clive and Sandra, and sister, Joanna Davidson, along with Shaun’s parents, John and Lorraine, and sister, Claire, were also involved in fund raising.

Nicola, Shaun and, of course, Joseph, have now returned to the Hospital to present cheques for £4,135 to the Friends of the Special Nursery.
